According to a recent survey by REST Industry Super, one in three retirees in Sydney are looking to give their adult children money to help them purchase their first home.
For Mr Turner, from Cherrybrook, the financial help from his parents was crucial in buying a lot at the $4 billion development.
"I am grateful for the support from my parents who also helped my older brother purchase his first home," Mr Turner said.
"I'm very appreciative of their support which has greatly assisted me secure a financial future for myself.
"I used the gift money they gave me for my land deposit.
"I wanted to put the money to good use and invest in an asset that will increase in value over time.
"A friend working in the real estate business told me about The Gables a few months ago.
"When I went to visit the sales office I was instantly impressed.
"The new masterplanned community concept, wide open spaces and lots of bush land appealed to me.
"I run my own business in The Hills area and have also grown up in the district."
