The growing community welcomed the Year of the Pig with traditional Chinese lion dancers, a martial arts display, calligraphy, face painting, craft activities, fortune cookies and a mouth-watering selection of Chinese food from Hills District favourite Jin Yan Asian Cuisine.

Hosted by developer Celestino as part of its Community Activation Plan, Development Director Matthew Scard said events like these help nurture the already strong community spirit found at The Gables.

“It is important to us to help facilitate a rich, vibrant and sustainable lifestyle, with abundant opportunities for residents to become engaged and grow together. Our community program takes a multi-layered approach, developing diverse and inclusive networks by helping residents meet face-to-face and through smaller interest-based groups, through to estate-wide events such as Chinese New Year.”

With 200 homes now occupied in Celestino’s 830-hectare masterplanned community, and more people moving in every month, residents at The Gables have already shown their enthusiasm for breaking bread together at ‘Village Good Vibes’ on Friday nights.

The Village Good Vibes weekly food truck program, which has been running since December, has proved to be a popular way for residents to celebrate the end of the week over summer.

At the Chinese New Year event, Castle Hill restaurant Jin Yan Asian Cuisine continued the Friday night food focus with a range of yum cha favourites.

Following Chinese New Year, Village Good Vibes will return to The Gables with a line up of food trucks bringing freshly cooked food to Slidey Park every Friday night until the beginning of April.
