When buyers stake a claim in a new neighbourhood at The Gables Box Hill they’ll become part of a story that not only has regional impact, they’ll be part of a connection that’s making a difference.
In line with Celestino’s, the developer of The Gables Box Hill, trademark attention to detail all land lots are marked out with custom-made The Gables branded surveyor stakes.
According to Matthew Scard, Development Director at Celestino the branded stakes do more than mark the boundaries of a block of land at “The Gables” Box Hill – they represent inclusion and celebrate diversity within the new community.
Celestino’s surveying contractor Proust and Gardner Consulting, has commissioned NDIS accredited DARE Disability Support to make and paint 4,000 stakes for all new homes being built in The Gables. An additional 15,000 stakes may be required over the project duration.
“Social sustainability is built into our business model and a high priority for Celestino,” Mr Scard said. “We work hard to build communities that are inclusive and accessible, and employment is an important part of social inclusion. So, for these reasons, it makes corporate sense to work in association with all of our consultants and in this case, DARE.”
DARE’s Sales Coordinator Sonja Musson said DARE Industries provides meaningful employment to people with disabilities.
“At the moment we have 60 supported staff who work anywhere from two days a week to full time,” she said. “We have a team working on The Gables stakes for Celestino. We’ve made 2000 stakes so far and will be filling and delivering orders to The Gables as needed over the next two years.”
“This kind of stable, long-term project provides a beneficial sense of routine for our supported employees. This work environment also provides them with a chance to form friendships, it gives them something to be proud of, and creates valuable skills to enable the achievement of individual employment goals,” Ms Musson said.
Mr Scard said the custom-made stakes from DARE were well received by buyers at The Gables.
“Staking out your block of land is an important milestone in building a new home at The Gables,”
“Many of our future residents have said they will keep the stakes as a memento of their first step into The Gables,” he said.
