In September last year The Gables opened its first park, “Orchard Park” in time for our 2nd birthday. This milestone was achieved before construction began on the first homes in the community which was a triumphant effort by the development team.

Now, ahead of the 80th resident milestone, we’re opening two more neighbourhood parks.

Wheelie park, on Cataract Road, has been designed for two-wheel fun. It includes a “learn to ride” scoot and bike track as well as a longer track for those more confident in their skills.

In future, connecting pathways will take cyclists from Wheelie park through the riparian corridor and to the heart of The Gables town centre.

The soon to be complete, Slidey park, on Fontana Drive, will also open later this month. Its playground, complete with hillside slides, is the key element of this park that invites picnics and play for young and old.

“We recognise that well-designed and inviting green spaces like these parks have to come first to create a vibrant and helps bring our new and growing community together,” Mr Scard said. “It’s this approach – the early delivery of facilities and attention to detail – that sets Celestino and The Gables apart.”

The Orchard park includes a playground, cycleways and footpaths as well as a cooling riparian corridor. It is already well used by future The Gables residents and the wider Hills community.

Mature trees are an additional and pleasing feature of the popular Park.

“We didn’t want our community to have to wait too long for shade producing trees to grow,” Mr Scard said. “Because of this we’ve transplanted some mature trees to give the park an established feel and provide shade.”

And feedback on the Orchard park has been highly positive.

“People love how the park caters for children from toddlers to teenagers, as well as for their four-legged friends,” he said. “We have received feedback that some of our residents have called for a dedicated off-leash area for their dogs. So our development team is speaking with council to understand what the requirements would be for a dedicated dog park at The Gables.

“We listen to our community and we’re evolving with them. It’s exciting to be part of that evolution and to see this shared vision shaping The Gables.”
